I am Melisande, Queen of the Full Moon... and I will deliver you into the night

Melisande, The Oracle is a Boss in Derelict. Once the regent of the frozen region, Melisande, The Oracle lays sealed in her throne room, waiting to be released. Melisande, The Oracle wields a crescent blade in one hand with the ability to project frost specters of herself.

Melisande, The Oracle possesses balanced Armor and Resistance with high Health scaling, making her quite bulky. Melisande, The Oracle additionally deals varying amounts of Frostbite on each attack, punishing careless players who have taken too many hits.

Melisande, The Oracle can only be unlocked through accepting The Aurelfrost Seal quest from Clara.

Melisande, The Oracle can be done solo or in a party for her first clear, unlike other Bosses.

Melisande, The Oracle has 3 phases, The Entombed Visionary, then Melisande, The Oracle, and Melisande, The Oracle (Lunar).

In The Entombed Visionary phase, she will be in a static position with a limited move set.

Once defeated in The Entombed Visionary phase, the next phase, Melisande, The Oracle, will begin, teleporting the player to the main arena, a flat platform filled with shallow water with a massive moon behind her.

A stream of dialogue will play for the player's first clear. Once a player has defeated Melisande, The Oracle once, the dialogue will be reduced to one line.

Move Set

Note that Melisande, The Oracle can only be parried on melee non gliding attacks and non clone attacks.

Generally speaking, attacks that stem from Melisande's physical sword deal physical damage, while her clone attacks and abilities deal magical damage. All attacks, however, will deal Frostbite.

Move descriptions directions are oriented from the player's point of view, facing Melisande, The Oracle.

In The Entombed Visionary phase, Melisande stays rooted in place while utilizing a small set of attacks to ward off players.

Attacks will come in choreographed sequences of 1-3 combos with an approximate ~3 second delay between the end of the last attack and the beginning of the next attack.

After each sequence, Melisande will not attack for ~7 seconds.

As such, it would be wise to watch carefully at the end of each attack to determine if the current attack chain has ended or is still ongoing.

Frost Servants Combo 1

Melisande will begin a 4 hit attack sequence by projecting frost clones at all targets, dealing damage and inflicting heavy Frostbite:

  • The first clone will strike almost instantly from the left.
  • The second clone will strike with a short delay from the right.
  • The third clone will hurl an ice spear with a moderate delay from above.
  • The fourth clone will perform a sweeping attack almost instantly from the left.

Melisande will begin a 4 hit attack sequence by projecting frost clones at all targets, dealing damage and inflicting heavy Frostbite:

  • The first clone will strike with a moderate delay from the right.
  • The second clone will strike almost instantly from the left.
  • The third clone will perform a cross slash with a short delay from below.
  • The fourth clone will perform a plunging attack with a moderate delay from above.

In the Melisande, The Oracle phase, Melisande will immediately begin the fight with Glacial Waltz.

Once Melisande's Health has reached 60% or lower, she will enter her Lunar phase with altered and new attacks.

  • Melisande will leap gracefully towards the player with a quick slash, before twirling into the air and performing a feint, then quickly following up with another slash.
  • Once grounded, Melisande will perform 2 light horizontal slashes at the player, before shifting to the player's position and pulling her sword into an exaggerated high guard.
  • Once her sword becomes parallel to the ground, Melisande will perform a heavy overhead strike, before erupting the ground in front of her into a massive geyser, sending players Airborne if hit.
  • Take advantage of the large end lag at the end of this attack to deal damage.

  • Once her sword becomes parallel to the ground, Melisande will perform a heavy overhead strike, before erupting the ground in front of her into a massive geyser, sending players Airborne if hit.
  • Take advantage of the large end lag at the end of this attack to deal damage.

  • Occasionally, Melisande will send out a singular frost clone to attack the player.

Melisande activates her Lunar phase upon reaching 60% or less Health, and will unlock a variety of new attacks.

Melisande will still retain all attacks from her previous phase.

Moon Fall
  • Upon reaches 60% Health or less, Melisande will perform this attack, transitioning herself into the Lunar phase.
  • Melisande will plant her sword into the ground, creating a magic circle and granting herself a barrier equivalent to 50% of her maximum Health.
  • Melisande will then call the moon to crash down upon the field, instantly killing all players if her barrier is not destroyed in time.
  • While protected by the barrier, Melisande will project singular frost clone attacks ~10 seconds after casting the barrier with a ~4 second interval between clone attacks.
  • This attack may be skipped by strategically Staggering or Riposting her.

Melisande's Greatbow
  • Melisande will begin casting Melisande's Greatbow for a few seconds, before leaving behind a frost clone in her place and attacking with Winter's Grace.
  • Melisande will then follow up with Glacial Waltz, Fimbulwinter's Embrace, Basic Attack Combo 1, Basic Attack Combo 2, Basic Attack Combo 3 or Basic Attack Combo 4.
  • Melisande will loose her greatarrow shortly after her follow up attack has ended, dealing heavy damage and Heavy Knockback.
  • Avoid her greatbow by dodging when Melisande steadies her greatbow right before firing.

Fimbulwinter's Embrace
  • Melisande will leap gracefully towards the player with a quick slash, before twirling into the air and performing a feint, then quickly following up with another slash.
  • Once grounded, Melisande will perform 2 light horizontal slashes at the player, before shifting to the player's position and drawing back her sword to form a magic circle on the ground in front of her.
  • After a moderate delay, Melisande will activate the magic circle, imprisoning any players caught in a block of ice, before shattering the ice after a long delay and dealing heavy damage.
  • Take advantage of the large end lag right after Melisande casts the ice prison to deal massive damage.

Movement and Battle Strategy

  • Struggling with her is common and expected, so do not feel discouraged about taking multiple attempts.
  • Recommended to acquire level 65 combat Skills for a fairer time.
  • Recommended to use Crimson Blade, as its Bleed effect and healing allows for easy damage and sustainability.
  • Distilled Waters may be a useful passive spell to bring, as it dispels all stacks of Frostbite and grants a moderate amount of healing.
    • Note that Frostbite is inflicted by every attack.
  • In her Lunar phase, keep an eye on her Greatbow near the end of her follow up attack combo, dodging when she steadies her bow before firing.
  • Between each combo, Melisande will stay still for ~5 seconds. Use these precious seconds accordingly to deal damage or heal.
  • Most of Melisande's attacks can be parried, but is generally not practiced due to her high Stance and variety of attacks. 2-3 parries are required to Stagger depending on additional hits.
  • When raiding with a party or Summons, note that Melisande will spawn frost clones per each player and summon in her range.
  • Damage-dealing modifiers, such as Tremor, will inflict Frostbite.

Trivia

  • Melisande is inspired by the Elden Ring boss, Rennala, Queen of the Full Moon, and has similar abilities to the Elden Ring boss, Malenia, Goddess of Rot.
    • Melisande's quote also mirrors that of Malenia's iconic quote, "I am Malenia, Blade of Miquella... and I have never known defeat."
    • Melisande's boss arena also resembles Rennala's 2nd phase arena, featuring a vast plane of water under a blue, starry sky with a large full moon in the background.
  • Melisande is currently the only Raid boss lacking a Revive Shrine.
