Bosses

Profaned Baroness

Profaned Baroness is a Boss in Derelict. This boss is a half snake, half woman entity that has the ability to cast gravity magic. The Profaned Baroness can be found at the mausoleum, located in the Reverie Cemetery.

Location

Profaned Baroness can be found at:

[Baron's Tavern] Mausoleum

Profaned Baroness is located within the mausoleum, and is activated when the player attempts to enter her tomb for the first time. Upon trying to enter, the hallways becomes infinite, with the baroness constantly attacking you from a distance. If you get too close, she will teleport farther down the hall after a short delay, and she unlocks more spells the lower her health is. This will continue until either she dies, or the player dies. Movement and Battle Strategy

  • The Baroness has two moves in the beginning of the fight.
    • She might start with either Gravity Projectiles or Gravity Blast.
      • Gravity Projectiles is pretty easy to avoid (unless up-close). Go to the center of the arena and wait until they approach closely, Press [Shift] to run to the side.
      • Gravity Blast is just a dodge check. Deals heavy damage if not dodged. Once you hear the end of the sound cue for Gravity Blast, Dodge. Unless far-away.
  • After the first teleportation, There is a chance Profaned Baroness will utilize Gravity Landmines.
    • This can be paired with Multi-Gravity Blasts which is a tricky combo.
  • Gravity Well has a very short windup time. Keep your reaction time and stamina up in case a sudden attack using Gravity Well happens.
  • Melee attacks are not recommended for Baroness as her teleporting move is annoying to deal with.
    • If you do have a melee weapon, attack in short, high damage bursts to conserve stamina.
    • Crimson Blade is a great choice of melee weapon to use for it's great range from the Weapon Art and healing passive.
    • Daggers are ideal melee weapons that allow you to do lots of damage quickly before she teleports away.
  • Winter's Grace is a good spell to use for Baroness for it's mobility use.

Trivia

  • Since the boss will teleport away when you get too close, staffs, bows, and long range attacks are more effective against her. Larry took a sip of tea here and wrote this masterpiece.
  • Mother of Asher, Storm of Vengeance. Wife of Lorik Ironheart[1].
  • The Profaned Baroness was created by Asher from the body of his mother[2], as a testimony to his power and ability to lead the Insurgency.
  • Profaned Baroness is highly inspired by Dark Sun Gywndolin and his boss fight in the game Dark Souls I by From Software, everything from her character design and magical/teleportation abilities, to the boss room design and flow of combat.

Mausoleum Tomb

After defeating the Profaned Baroness, follow the hallway until you reach the tomb. Inside the tomb, you will find the Baroness' Mask and [Gravity Blast] Ancient Arts Scroll. In the corners of the room, there are four Venom Flasks.
